The Black Nonprofits and Business Podcast

Ep. #23 – This is one of our most intriguing episodes. The founder of “Her Choice Advocacy”, LaKeisha Thomas started this organization to advocate for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault conception.  Can you imagine conceiving a child from after being raped? Many of us never consider that. Her website says, “When a women discovers she has conceived from a sexual assault, she should be able to choose to parent her child without judgement, or prosecution of her unborn child that are derived from perceived notions chained to the rapist. The mother and child need society and laws to protect them, whether the mother chooses abortion, adoption or to parent the child, she should be free to make decisions without interference or influence from the perpetrator. These families deserve social inclusion, respect, dignity and honor." I completely agree. It’s HER CHOICE and we should respect that. I learned a lot from this interview as I’m sure you will too.
